This time next week we will be getting ready for our journey home to the UK… I know last week I said that 6 weeks was probably long enough but, with just a week to go, I have changed my mind and it now seems that our time here has flown by! That’s not to say that I am not looking forward to getting home… we have started identifying houses (online) that we want to go and view when we get back as we will be seriously looking at moving… it’s not that we don’t like where we live but if not now, when? We are not getting any younger and, if we leave it too long, we probably will not go anywhere! Also, there’s an element of us downsizing so that we have some money to put in the retirement coffers too! Anyway, that’s something to look forward to & get organised when we get home… but for now, back to the present! 😊
We have definitely taken it easy over the past few days which has involved mainly lying down! 🤣 Lying in bed, lying on the sofa or a sunbed on the beach! It’s a tough life for sure 😎
Of course, to ensure I am not the size of a house (or one of Bradford’s curry houses Giant Naans) when we get home, I have been managing to maintain my daily exercise routine together with a walk on the beach most days & am feeling pretty good because of it! I was surprised to get a message from my Fitbit the other day telling me to take it easy! Never had one of those before 🤣🤣🤣

City of Culture 2025! Pete Willsher – we think even you would struggle with this one 🤣🤣
Bottom – evidence of my daily exercise & message from Fitbit!
Here’s some pics from our time on the beach over the last few days…

Bottom Left – a cockroach I found lying on its back in our bedroom when I got up yesterday.. hate the thought of something so big flying about whilst we were asleep! 😱😱😱

Bottom Right – the waves have been massive the past few days due to the full moon (we think!)
Earlier in the week, I picked up my new tops from the tailor and, after having a go at taking a selfie (which I am rubbish at although this one (see below on right) is not too bad…), I asked Pete to take a photo of me in one of the new tops… after three attempts he reminded me that he’s a “trained killer” not a photographer 🤣🤣🤣 – Lol! I am sure there’s not a human alive that didn’t know he was in the army for 24 years! 🤣

Today (19 January) marks one week until we shall be packing our bags ready for our flight back to the UK as we leave the apartment around 11.30pm next Sunday (26th)…
After cleaning the apartment this morning, we have been out on the scooter… it’s always nice to see bits of this local area that we’ve not seen before but, after making it up a couple of big hills, it was pretty hazy up there! If we have time and the haze clears a bit, we might go again just to find out how far we can see! Here’s some pics…

Left, the blue building is St Moddy Chapel (can’t find any reference to a St Moddy so not sure who she/he was!);
Right – Shree Krishna Bhagwatgeeta Saunstan, a Hindu temple on a hill & cow grazing in the grounds… Lord Krishna is the Hindu god of love, compassion, and protection

Right Top- Rotavator for the paddy fields which has “skis” on either side like a Sea Plane!
Right Middle – a tractor sunk in the mud… on our way back they had got it out using a couple of logs!
Bottom Left – Pinwheelflower; Bottom Right – Scarlet Jungleflame

Middle = Darter; Right, Top to Bottom = Black-Winged Stilt; Common Coot; Purple-Necked Heron.
Left, Top & Bottom = Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater; Middle = River Tern.
So that’s all the news from the last few days! TTFN xx
