16th April 2025 – Warm weather, artic conditions and a day out at the Zoo!

What a difference a week makes! Last week, we spent a bit of time sitting in the garden making the most of some very sunny & warm weather… today, it’s back to 4-layers (including a fleece & a raincoat!) because it’s “gusty”, drizzling and cold!

Apart from various walks, a continued trial of contact lenses, a couple of visits to see Mum, a FaceTime call with my brother Chris to wish him a happy birthday, and a trip to Chester Zoo with the grandkids, things have been pretty quiet over the past week or so!

Last week, it went from waking up to very frosty mornings – one day it was cold enough that when Pete happened to knock up a crumble using rhubarb off the allotment (a warming wintery dish I am sure will agree, especially when served with piping hot custard!), I went back for seconds & thirds instead of having any proper lunch! Goodness knows how I managed to lose another half pound weight-wise 🤣🤔 – to sitting out in the garden with sunscreen applied! It was that sunny, I had to buy a pair of non-prescription sunglasses to use with my contact lenses!

Here’s the past week or so in pics!

05 April 2025 – Walking in Skipton Woods

Pete has been spending some time on the allotment and it’s looking great… my onions have taken and the cabbage & green bean seeds have started to sprout!

10 April 2025 – down on the allotment – watering the seeds, onions & finishing off topping up the clippings on the pathways… Top Right – Plum blossom; Bottom Left – Pear blossom

Pete has also been working hard to keep our front & back garden perfect – so that the curb appeal is as good as it can be! We have some beautiful tulips at the moment…

10 April 2025 – Tulips in the garden

No viewings of the house yet… we haven’t actually had any since the 1st March which is really disappointing 😟 I am sure it’s partly due to all the uncertainty & turmoil Mr Trump & Co are causing in the world and people being unsure about their finances… I did hope the good weather last week would bring a few viewing requests in but it didn’t happened… now it’s Easter hols so perhaps things might start moving a bit when we get to May? I hope so… that or we need to win the lottery or the Omaze house thingy!

Whilst Pete tended the garden last week, I went for a long walk in the sunshine – here’s my route:

11 April 2025 – A nice 5.5-mile walk in the sunshine

And here’s some pics…

11th April 2025 – A stroll from home on my – Top Left – Wood Anemone; Top Right – my first Swallow of the year (although Pete says he saw his first on the 9th!); Middle Right – Orange Tip butterfly

It’s funny, but if I don’t take photos, I tend to forget what we’ve been up to! 🤣🤣 I know the weather changed a bit at the weekend & I didn’t do too much… my back has been a bit bad the past few days (think I over did the exercises on Saturday and have been recovering ever since!) and I know I watched the boat race – not for everyone I know, but has always been something I have done as it reminds me of my Nan (Brindley – Mum’s Mum) who used to live one bridge down from the finish line – with my Mum’s roots being firmly in the Chiswick’s part of West London… I also watched the Women’s six nations rugby too… resting my back & being a couch potato for the weekend!

On Monday, I popped up to see Mum as I wanted to call my brother Chris whilst I was with her… it was good to see him! Pete & I then drove over to Chester where we stayed the night prior to our trip to Chester Zoo with our Louise & the Grandkids yesterday…

We didn’t realise until we met up with them yesterday morning that Louise had actually booked the wrong date – having booked it for this coming Thursday by accident… fortunately, she was able to change the tickets on the gate for a small fee, although sadly, it meant Lee was not able to join us as he was working…

Loads of pics of the zoo – if you are in the area, you should go – it might seem a bit expensive but it’s well worth the money… We had a great day out and there is so much to see – we were literally there from the moment it opened to the moment it closed (10am to 6pm) and I was completely knackered by the time we got home! I slept well, really well, for a nice change!

So, lent is nearly over and I can recommence my use of social media if I can be bothered… more importantly, I can reconvene eating chocolate and intend to start with the huge Lindt Chocolate Egg Louise got me 😊😋… I will be strong though and delay this until Easter Sunday when I will happily, probably polish off the lot in one go 🤣🤣🤣

Happy Easter all xx
